Ahead of IPL 2025, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has signed South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder as a replacement for the injured Brydon Carse. Carse, who was bought at his base price of ₹1 crore, aggravated a long-standing toe injury during England’s Champions Trophy campaign and was ruled out after conceding 69 runs in seven overs against Australia.
Mulder, who went unsold in the IPL auction despite setting his base price at ₹75 lakh, was later called up due to his impressive performance in the Champions Trophy, where he took six wickets in three matches for South Africa. This will be his maiden IPL stint.
SRH, last season’s runners-up, will begin their campaign with a home game against Rajasthan Royals on March 23.
The team will hope that Mulder strengthens their squad as they aim for their first IPL title since 2016. Meanwhile, the BCCI has introduced new IPL regulations, including restrictions on family members in dressing rooms and mandatory team bus travel.
