Social Media Reacts As India Storms Into Finals After Clinical Performance Vs England
Sanju Samson's breathtaking innings helped to propel Team India into the semifinals of the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after eliminating the West Indies in virtual quarter-final matchups.
Meanwhile, England has maintained their excellent form in the Super 8 Group stages with three consecutive victories. The two teams have now met up once again in the second semi-final at the famous Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
This will mark the Third consecutive India vs. England match that concludes with one team advancing to the Tournament finals and winning the Championship. The pitch will have more grass as the ground staff has cross-rolled it. The square boundaries were approximately 65 metres, with the straight boundary set at 75 metres.
Harry Brook won the toss for England and elected to field first. England made only one change, bringing Jamie Overton back into their XI for Rehan Ahmed, whereas India are unchanged.
Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya’s Crucial 18th and 19th Overs
Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya’s batting performances in the 18th and 19th overs were pivotal for the Indian team in the semifinal against England.
Bumrah started his 18th over of the bowling innings, needing 45 runs from 18 balls. Bumrah bowled a great over, only letting up 4 singles and 1 double, and increased the pressure on the English batting lineup. Hardik Pandya also did a superb job in the bowling during this period, as he was hit for a six on the first ball of the penultimate over and ended up having only 3 singles scored off his 6-ball over. Then, he went on to take the wicket of Sam Curran.
Those two overs of 1/15 swung the momentum and allowed Shivam Dube to bowl the last over without having to face much pressure from the English batting lineup.
Sanju Samson Torres’ 89 Runs Lead India to a Total of 253-7
In the semifinal of the 2026 Cricket World Cup against England, the Indians perhaps delivered their best performance of the tournament. Following the last match in Kolkata, Sanju was on fire and helped the country score 67 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in the power play. In addition to Samson’s 89 runs off 42 deliveries, the three players who made up the majority of the middle order (Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, and Shivam Dube) made valuable contributions to help India build their total.
Late in the innings, Hardik Pandya scored 27 runs off 12 balls to finish off the Indians’ innings by collecting 76 runs over the final 5 overs for a total of 237 runs after 20 overs of play.
England Lost Despite Jacob Bethell’s Century
After losing both Phil Salt and Brook in just the first six overs of their innings vs India, Jacob Bethell’s relentless mentality helped to get England back on track. Bethell started with an onslaught, hitting Varun Chakravarthy back to back with 3 sixes and scoring a blazing fifty in only 19 balls.
As England continued their dominating performance against India, Will Jacks had an excellent effort, scoring an impressive 35 in only 20 balls. Although Jacob Bethell was able to go on to achieve a century in under 45 balls, unfortunately for England, they were defeated by 7 runs through an unbelievable comeback by India en route to advancing to the finals.
