For the upcoming five-match Test series against England, India is likely to stick with Rohit Sharma as captain despite his poor form in Australia, where he scored just 31 runs in five innings. Shubman Gill, with 1019 runs at 37.74 in 30 innings at No. 3, is expected to be named vice-captain. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who averaged 43.44 in Australia, is set to open alongside Rohit, while Virat Kohli is likely to retain his No. 4 spot. B Sai Sudharsan, with 1957 First-Class runs at nearly 40, may get a debut call-up.

Arshdeep Singh’s swing bowling and County experience could earn him a spot, along with the returning Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja. Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and youngsters Dhruv Jurel and Nitish Reddy are also in contention. To manage Jasprit Bumrah’s workload, India might include Prasidh Krishna, who took 19 IPL wickets in 10 matches, along with Siraj and Washington Sundar, in the pace-heavy squad.
