Social Media erupts as India regains the lead after a thumping win
On a cold night in Dharamshala, which saw temperatures drop dramatically, India imposed their will on a hapless South Africa team. They easily beat them by seven wickets in the third T20I of the tour of India on Sunday, December 14, 2025. The victory not only sees India move into a 2-1 lead in the five-match series but also shows that the Indian team is capable of a very strong performance with both bat and ball.
The team batting second on Sunday took complete control of the match from the first ball through to the last. Once India won the toss and chose to bowl first, they completely dismantled the South African batting line-up, limiting them to just 117 runs, which was never going to be enough to win a T20 match.
The home team sat in the driver’s seat from start to finish in a dominant show. The one-sided chase, which started with Abhishek Sharma, who lofted Lungi Ngidi for six runs to complete the match inside 15.5 overs.
With two brilliant performances from both Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana, they took complete control of the match in the power play and completely restricted the South African batting lineup early in the innings. Arshdeep displayed excellent bowling skills as he changed the length of the ball cleverly to get it to swing both ways; at one moment, he had Reeza Hendricks plumb LBW as he had no idea what to expect next.
Arshdeep Singh has found his line and length with two for 13 runs, in contrast to the endless wides he delivered in the previous match.
There is also another point to make, that Harshit Patel had only been selected in the Playing XI because of the return of Jasprit Bumrah due to a family emergency. He was still able to take out one of the in-form batters, Quinton de Kock, with an unplayable delivery that skidded on and allowed the bowler to grab his first wicket of the series as an international cricketer.
Real Struggle
It seemed that the visitors were totally smothered as they crawled slowly to 25 runs for three wickets within six overs. As if that wasn’t enough, Hardik Pandya came on to bowl and induced a nick off Travis Stubbs for his 100th T20I wicket.
The wickets continued to tumble as both Shivam Dube and Varun Chakaravarthy packed up their share of the spoils after taking wickets.
Only Captain Aiden Markram put up some resistance with 61 runs off 46 balls that included six boundaries and two sixes. His patience paid off when he smacked Harshit Rana for two sixes and a four in the 18th over – a rare bright spot for South Africa. Markram later added another highlight when he ran back a great distance to pull off a fine catch to dismiss Abhishek Sharma.
Moreover, India’s left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who got his chance as Axar Patel fell ill, claimed two wickets in the final over to wrap up the innings.
