Prithvi Shaw’s career has seen a significant decline. Once considered the next big star in Indian cricket, he now struggles to secure a place even in the domestic team. It’s a heartbreaking fall from grace, highlighting the challenges he faces to regain his form.

This year, Shaw struggled in the domestic season, scoring just 59 runs in four games in the Ranji Trophy before being dropped due to fitness and disciplinary issues. He later made a comeback in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 for Mumbai.

Mumbai captain Shreyas Iyer praised Prithvi Shaw as the most talented player, emphasizing the importance of Shaw getting his work ethic right. He said that Shaw needs to figure things out for himself as he played a lot of cricket, suggesting that the potential for success is limitless. He said:

I think, personally, he is a God-gifted player. The amount of talent he possesses as an individual, no one has it. That’s true. It’s just that he needs to improve his work ethic. And I have said it before as well in many of the interviews. He needs to get his work ethic right. And if he does that, you know, the sky is the limit for him. Can you force him to? I can’t force him. He has played so much cricket. And everyone has given him inputs. At the end of the day, it’s his job to go out there and figure out things for himself.

Shreyas Iyer emphasized that Prithvi Shaw needs to focus and find his own path, as no one can teach him what to do. Shaw must put on his thinking cap and figure things out for himself.
