The Indian cricket team suffered a 0-3 defeat against New Zealand in a three-match test series at home. This whitewash, the first of its kind for India on home soil, is considered one of the lowest points in the country’s cricket history.

Even during the tough times, there are positives and for India, Rishabh Pant was a standout performer. He played a key role in the batting lineup during the home season, helping the team stay competitive against Bangladesh and New Zealand.

While most Indian batters found it difficult to perform on the pitches, Rishabh Pant excelled. He scored an impressive 99 runs in the first test and had another great performance in the third match, hitting half-centuries in both innings. When India was struggling at 29/5 in pursuit of 147 runs, Pant’s batting made the team look like potential winners, bringing them close to the target.

Mohammad Kaif reviewed the performance of Rishabh Pant, on his Instagram live session, he explained:

From the current team, only Rishabh Pant is in contention to be Test captain. He’s worthy of it, whenever he’s played, he’s put the Indian team in front. Whichever number he comes to play, he’s ready to play a match-winning knock. He’s scored in all types of conditions be it England, Australia or South Africa. Be it seaming to turning tracks, he’s a complete batter.
