In the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 quarter-final at Eden Gardens, Mumbai holds a slight advantage over Haryana, thanks to a brilliant bowling performance by Shardul Thakur. His six-wicket haul (6/58 in 18.5 overs) helped Mumbai secure a narrow 14-run lead in the first innings. Haryana, after restricting Mumbai to 315 in their first innings, responded with 301, with captain Ankit Kumar leading the charge with a well-compiled 136 off 206 balls.
However, Thakur’s lethal spell dismantled Haryana’s middle and lower order, ensuring Mumbai held the edge. Earlier, Mumbai’s innings were built on Tanush Kotian’s gritty 97 (173 balls) and Shams Mulani’s crucial 91 (178 balls). In reply, Haryana looked in control at 257/5 before Thakur struck, triggering a collapse. In their second innings, Mumbai reached 100/2 at stumps on Day 3, with Siddhesh Lad unbeaten on 43 and Ajinkya Rahane on 15.
With a lead of 114 runs and two days remaining, Mumbai will look to capitalize on Thakur’s heroics and build a match-winning total. Haryana, on the other hand, will rely on their bowlers to keep the contest alive.
