In the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 quarter-finals, Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane played a crucial knock to put his team in a strong position against Haryana. Batting first, Haryana showed resilience but could not take the first-innings lead, trailing Mumbai by just 14 runs. Mumbai faced early setbacks, losing both openers quickly, but Rahane stabilized the innings with a well-crafted century. His 108 off 180 deliveries, supported by valuable partnerships with Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube, helped Mumbai post a competitive target of 354.

This innings marked Rahane’s 40th first-class century and his seventh 50+ score in the last 11 domestic matches, highlighting his consistency. His leadership was evident as he guided the team through tough phases. In response, Haryana began their second innings cautiously but suffered an early blow when Mumbai’s Shardul Thakur dismissed their captain, Ankit Kumar, who had been their top scorer in the tournament. At lunch, Haryana stood at 31/1, with Lakshya Suman Dalal and Yashvardhan Dalal at the crease, facing a challenging chase.

With Mumbai’s experienced bowling attack in play, the team remains in a commanding position, looking to capitalize on their early breakthrough and advance to the semi-finals.
