Three wins apiece from six games by both teams, but that’s plenty of reason enough for this match to be marked out as a key one midway through the tournament, recent form and playoff pressure adding to the mix.

Gujarat Giants Women are on the back of a 45-run win over UP Warriorz, secured by an all-round effort from Sophie Devine, who also hit an unbeaten 50 while batting. This win came after the side suffered three consecutive losses.

Delhi Capitals, meanwhile, have turned things around after an early stumble and are on No. 2. Their comprehensive win in the previous match over Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women, who lost their first game of the season itself, will surely provide a much-needed lift to Delhi’s chances of making it to the playoffs. On the batting front, Lizelle Lee and Nandani Sharma have been the standout performers.

Both teams have a decent H2H record against each other, with Delhi slightly ahead in the number of head-to-head wins. But the form of both teams ahead of the meeting suggests a tight game. The Vadodara surface has seemed to have been in early in the matches of late, and sides that have batted first or chased under lights may be ahead if they win the toss.

But with both teams in the thick of a playoff chase that is tightening with each game left in the league season, this game might be a significant one in terms of the two teams’ championship prospects. The batsmen will be on a go at the bowling, and some great contest between bowler and batters when these two sides take the field next in another competitive WPL match.
