Mohammed Siraj Challenges Virat Kohli Ahead of IPL 2025 Faceoff!
Mohammed Siraj is set to face Virat Kohli for the first time in a competitive match as Gujarat Titans take on RCB. The ₹12.25 crore signing aims to take early wickets, using his experience from India's nets. Siraj, with 83 IPL wickets, praised GT captain Shubman Gill as a "bowler’s captain”.

With the IPL 2025 season underway, Mohammed Siraj is set for an exciting faceoff against his former teammate Virat Kohli as Gujarat Titans (GT) take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Bought by GT for ₹12.25 crore in the mega auction, Siraj is ready for his first competitive battle against Kohli, having previously bowled to him only in Indian team nets. Siraj, who played seven seasons with RCB, featured in 87 matches, picking up 83 wickets with best figures of 4/21. He made his IPL debut with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2017 before moving to RCB in 2018 for ₹2.20 crore.
In a conversation with RevSportz, Siraj expressed his excitement, calling it a “fun challenge” to bowl at Kohli. The 31-year-old also praised GT skipper Shubman Gill, calling him a “bowler’s captain” who provides freedom and support to his bowlers. Interestingly, Siraj and Gill share a strong bond, having made their Test debuts together.
Siraj revealed that his role for GT will be to strike early with the new ball alongside Rabada and Prasidh Krishna. If wickets don’t come, his focus will be on delivering dot balls to build pressure. GT begin their campaign against Punjab Kings on March 25 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
