Matthew Kuhnemann to Undergo Bowling Tests Despite Thumb Injury

Australia Matthew Kuhnemann will undergo ICC-required bowling action tests, despite concerns over a recent thumb injury. The left-arm spinner, who played a key role in Australia's Test series win over Sri Lanka, is expected to complete biomechanical tests in Brisbane. His action has been under scrutiny after eight years, and the results will determine if his bowling action remains legal.

For the Australian cricket team, left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann is set to undergo mandatory bowling tests, despite concerns regarding a thumb injury. Kuhnemann, who recently missed Tasmania’s match against South Australia due to the injury, was expected to play in a Sheffield Shield game starting on February 18. However, the spinner was deemed unfit to participate.

Fortunately, the injury is not related to his bowling hand, allowing him to proceed with the International Cricket Council (ICC) tests on his action. Kuhnemann, who recently played in both Tests against Sri Lanka, has been a key figure in Australia’s bowling attack, notably finishing as the highest wicket-taker in the Sri Lanka series with 16 wickets at an average of 17.18.

The tests, scheduled within the next fortnight, will be held at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane, where Kuhnemann will bowl under the supervision of ICC experts. Despite the setback, his Tasmania captain, Jordan Silk, expressed confidence in Kuhnemann’s ability to come through the tests successfully. The spinner’s future in Australia’s Test plans remains secure, and he will continue to be a vital part of their strategy moving forward.
