For the KKR franchise, a major controversy has emerged during IPL 2025, as batter Ramandeep Singh revealed that players in the team frequently engage in betting. He stated that players, including former captain Shreyas Iyer, Nitish Rana, Vaibhav Arora, and Vivek Singh, regularly wager large sums while playing FIFA and poker in the KKR gaming room. According to Ramandeep, FIFA bets start at INR 20,000-25,000 and can go up to INR 1 lakh per game. In poker, the stakes rise even higher, reaching INR 10 lakh per game.

Shreyas Iyer, who has now moved to Punjab Kings, was mentioned as one of the biggest winners in these gaming sessions. Ramandeep even admitted that no one can defeat Vivek Singh in FIFA, making it unwise to bet against him. While these bets take place outside the cricket field, the revelations have sparked concerns over gambling culture within the IPL franchises. He said:

Yes, we bet a lot on each other. People lose a lot and win a lot. Shreyas plays FIFA very well. Vivek plays very well. No one can beat him. It’s stupid to bet on him. I used to play with Vaibhav and Shreyas. Nitish also plays very well. I used to play with him as well.

On the field, KKR bounced back from their season-opening loss to RCB with an 8-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals. Captain Ajinkya Rahane credited the bowling unit, especially Moeen Ali, for the victory. As the IPL progresses, KKR’s performances will be closely watched, both for their on-field success and off-field controversies.
