India’s Visually Impaired Cricket Team Gears Up for 4th T20 World Cup Challenge in Pakistan

The Cricket Association for the Blind in India has revealed its 17 member team for the 4th T20 World Cup for the Blind, set to take place from November 22 to December 3 in Lahore and Multan, Pakistan. Although they have sports ministry approval, the team awaits foreign affairs clearance.

India won the first three T20 World Cup for the Blind, all organized by the Cricket Association for the Blind in India and Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled. They defeated Pakistan twice and Bangladesh once, with their latest win in 2022. This year, the tournament will be hosted by the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council and held in Pakistan for the first time.

Currently training in Gurugram, the Indian Men’s Cricket Team is preparing to travel to Pakistan through the Wagah Border on November 21, 2024, once the NOC is granted. The 4th T20 World Cup, including teams in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, South Africa, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and India, will kick off in Lahore on November 22.

India’s 17 member squad for the 4th T20 World Cup for the Blind includes players from different states, organised by their level of visual impairment. In the B1 Category, the team includes Ajay Kumar Reddy Illuri, Debaraj Behera, Nareshbhai Balubhai Tumda, Nilesh Yadav, Sanjay Kumar Shah and Praveen Kumar Sharma.

The team’s B3 Category includes players like Durga Rao Tompaki, Sunil Ramesh, Sukhram Majhi, Ravi Amiti, Dineshbhai Chamayadabhai Rathva, and Dhinagar Gopu. This skilled group brings experience from across India to compete in the World Cup.
