India’s ODI Loss Becomes a Meme Goldmine on Social Media

India suffered another loss against Australia in the three-match series. Losing the second match at the Adelaide Oval, Shubman Gill and company also lost the much-awaited ODI series. On behalf of all the cricket fans, the Twitter users decided to turn the loss into a meme fest.

The Indian fans waited for the Australian tour much more than for the Asia Cup. But it has been one to forget for almost everyone in the country. Losing the first match one-sided, India went on to take the second match at Adelaide Oval, way too close. However, Australia had Cooper Connolly, who finished the job and helped his team to win the series.

This was also the most unexpected series loss for the Indian team. Virat Kohli got out for consecutive ducks in the first two games, as Harshit Rana also leaked runs for the team. This has sparked a meme fest on X, with fans creating the best possible memes to make this loss also a happy situation.

DSP Gets Caught

In the second ODI match, India had the upper hand, taking quick wickets of the Australian batters. But they didn’t have any idea that Matthew Short would end up playing a massive knock without giving many chances to the Indian team. Still, he fumbled against Washington Sundar, and the ball was sent flying towards the deep square leg.

Mohammed Siraj stood there and dropped the easy catch of Short, when he was at the score of 53. Later on, he went on to score more runs, and eventually it helped Australia to win the game. A Twitter user created a meme where DSP Siraj is locked up in jail by the Indian fielding coach, T Dilip.

The pressure is mounting for Virat Kohli even in his comeback series. In the first two ODI games against Australia, Kohli registered consecutive ducks for the first time in his ODI career. When some Indian batsmen failed to perform well while opening for the team, the lower order handled the responsibility. Harshit Rana, coming much down the order, managed to score 24 runs for the Indian team in the death overs. Every run in that phase counted for the Indian team, as no one expected even a score of 250.

But thanks to Harshit Rana’s heroics with the bat, he was able to help India reach a total of 264. Kohli Fans These Days

Being a Kohli fan has not been easy these days. First, they waited for Virat Kohli to return to the game after months of break. On his return, Virat got out for a duck, which was also his first one in Australia. Fans hoped for Kohli to make his comeback in the second ODI match, which was set to be played at Adelaide Oval.

This was considered his fortress away from home, as Kohli brought five centuries here across different formats. But he got out once again for a duck, on a delivery against Xavier Bartlett. Mohammed Siraj has received various names from the Indian fans. Whether it is DSP Siraj or Viv Richards, or Jonty Rhodes, Siraj is mainly known when he steps out with the bat. Several fans also argue that he matches the looks of Sir Viv Richards when he comes out to bat and wears a cap.

But in the Test match between Pakistan and South Africa, it seems that Siraj’s Viv Richards nickname might have a new competitor. Kagiso Rabada went on to smash a fifty against Pakistan in just 38 balls.
