India vs Australia: Nitish Kumar Reddy Poised for Impact in Border-Gavaskar Trophy Following Stellar Year
After a standout season in IPL 2024 and a successful debut in the T20I series against Bangladesh, rising all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is ready for his next big challenge, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) scheduled for November and December.
Selected for the Indian squad, Reddy is keen to prove himself as he prepares for the five-Test series beginning in Perth on November 22. He emphasizes his adaptability, aiming to adjust his game to suit various situations if given a chance to play in this historic series.
Inspired by the likes of Hardik Pandya and Ben Stokes, Reddy is determined to develop his distinct approach to the field. His recent form has shown his potential; in just his second T20I match, he dazzled with a score of 74 runs off 34 balls against Bangladesh, including four fours and seven sixes, leading his team to a crucial victory, catching the eyes of the selectors also.
In an interview, he stated
I will stick to my role. As for the others (all-rounders), I just like the way they bowl and bat. It doesn’t mean I will play like them. I’m just going to respond to the situation. If the situation demands me to play a big shot, I will play it. If the situation demands me to play till stumps, I’ll be ready for that too. I can do both.
As he steps onto the international stage, all eyes will be on Reddy as he aims to make a significant contribution in Australia.
