India dominated Day 1 of the opening Test in Perth, as they posted a total of 150, a modest score, but one that proved challenging for the Australian side. India’s batting, after a shaky start, saw contributions from Nitish Kumar Reddy (41) and Rishabh Pant (37), but Australia’s bowlers, led by Mitchell Starc (2/14) and Josh Hazlewood (4/29), capitalized on the conditions to dismiss India for a relatively low total.

Australia’s reply was quickly undone by India’s potent seam attack. Jasprit Bumrah, leading the
Fleet from the front, made early breakthroughs, dismissing opener Usman Khawaja (8), Nathan McSweeney (10), and Steven Smith (0), leaving Australia reeling at 19/3. Harshit Rana joined the fray, sending back Travis Head (11) and Siraj tightened the grip with two valuable wicket of Mitchell Marsh (6) and Marnus Labuschagne (2), further pushing Australia towards a collapse at 38/5.

Bumrah continued the pressure, with the key wicket of the skipper Pat Cummins (3). By the end of the day, Australia were struggling at 67/7, with Alex Carey (19) and Mitchell Starc (6) remaining at the crease.

India’s bowlers displayed outstanding discipline, with Bumrah’s four wickets standing out, while Siraj was also impressive with two wickets. Australia’s hopes now rest on their tailenders to avoid further damage, with the match poised for an exciting second day.
