Rauf’s stellar performances, including a five-wicket haul in the ODI series against Australia and consistent form across formats, earned him this prestigious recognition.
Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has been named the ICC Player of the Month for November 2024, edging out competitors Jasprit Bumrah and Marco Jansen. His fiery spells throughout the month played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s historic ODI series win in Australia after two decades, showcasing his dominance as a premier pacer.
Rauf’s standout performances came during the three-match ODI series against Australia. In the first game at Melbourne, he claimed three wickets to provide a solid start. However, it was the second ODI at Adelaide that cemented his brilliance. Delivering a match-winning performance, Rauf scalped 5/29, dismantling the Australian batting lineup for a mere 163. His efforts helped Pakistan level the series with a commanding nine-wicket victory. In the series decider, Rauf added two more wickets, finishing with 10 wickets at an impressive economy of five runs per over, earning him the Player of the Series title.
Beyond ODIs, Rauf maintained his form in T20Is, claiming five wickets against Australia and three more in Zimbabwe. His tally for November stood at an outstanding 18 wickets across formats.
On the women’s front, England’s Danni Wyatt claimed the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award. Her exceptional performances in the WT20I series against South Africa included 142 runs at an average of 71 and a blistering strike rate of 163.21. Wyatt also became the first England woman to surpass 3,000 WT20I runs, marking a remarkable milestone in her career.
