BAN vs SA: Bangladesh Fights Back as Mehidy Hasan Miraz Nears Century on Day 3
Bangladesh rebounds after losing 3 quick wickets at the start of day 3. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Jaker Ali's partnership helps Bangladesh to reach a lead of 81 runs, as Keshav Maharaj gets the breakthrough.
Bangladesh has given a tough fightback against South Africa on the third day of the first Test match being played at Dhaka. The team ended the third day with a lead of 81 runs, as Mehidy Hasan Miraz was close to another century, scoring 87 runs in 171 balls.
At the start of the day, Bangladesh again lost three quick wickets, having the team’s score of 131 for the loss of six wickets by the drinks of the first session. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Jaker Ali made a great partnership of 138 runs for the 7th wicket, after which Jaker Ali lost his wicket to Keshav Maharaj. Still, Ali scored a magnificent half-century for the team.
After his wicket, Nayeem Hasan has been able to keep the other end well and is able to support Mehidy Hasan Miraz, as their partnership extends to 35 runs. On the other hand, Miraz will be looking forward to grabbing his century on the fourth day, as he has scored 87 runs for the team. Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj have been the only wicket-takers for the team, holding 4 and 3 wickets respectively.
Bangladesh started the first test by scoring just 106 runs in the first innings. Responding to the same, South Africa scored 308, where Kyle Verreynne and Wiaan Mulder played an important role for the team. It will be interesting to see how South Africa’s bowlers are able to turn the game on day four.
