India vs Pakistan has been a rivalry for ages, with both teams having a history of intense competition. However, off the field, there are moments of camaraderie between players, such as a heartwarming incident involving Indian captain Rohit Sharma and former Pakistan captain Babar Azam.

During the 2023 Men’s World Cup, Babar Azam helped Rohit Sharma several times with his forgetfulness, particularly regarding his lost phone and earphones. Imam-ul-Haq, in a podcast, shared how Babar had to retrieve Rohit’s phone and AirPods multiple times, saying:

Oh my God, you haven’t met him, he’s a personality of a different level. He completely forgets where he kept his gloves and bats. Babar tells me about an incident — do you remember there was a captain’s meeting and these guys went in a plane? — he had bought a new iPhone and AirPods. He said we were talking and he first left his iPhone here, then in the plane, and then his AirPods every two minutes. Then, he was cursing himself, what am I doing, I keep forgetting things. [Babar] said twice he took his phone saying, “Rohit bhai, ye apna phone rakhlein” (Rohit bhai, please keep your phone). He even had to call his manager that he left his AirPods. He’s very forgetful.

Rohit has been known for his forgetful nature since 2017 when Virat Kohli revealed that he frequently forgets essential items like his iPad, wallet, and even his passport. Virat said:

The number of things Rohit Sharma forgets, I have never seen anyone else being this forgetful; iPad, wallet, phone, he forgets not just small things but essentials for daily use. He has even forgotten his passport two or three times, which was very hard to retrieve.

This incident highlights the lighter side of the intense rivalry, showing how cricketers share moments of friendship and support despite being competitors. Rohit’s forgetfulness has even become a subject of humor among his peers, with Kohli once describing it as an extraordinary trait. Currently, both Rohit and Kohli are involved in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which is tied 1-1 after three Tests.
