Known for his old tweets getting viral every now and then, Jofra Archer once again shook everyone with a post that he made 10 years ago. Netizens have gone gaga ever since.
On Thursday, October 27, New Zealand’s pace attack, Tim Southee, Matt Henry, and William O’Rourke, delivered an outstanding performance, bowling India out for just 46 runs in the first innings of the ongoing Test in Bengaluru. However, it was England pacer Jofra Archer’s 10-year old tweet which has made headlines as well.
Jofra Archer’s Tweet Goes Viral
Firstly, Southee kicked things off at the match by removing Indian captain Rohit Sharma, while Henry claimed five wickets, and O’Rourke accounted for four dismissals. Following New Zealand’s surprising display on Day 2 of the first Test at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, a decade-old tweet from England pacer Jofra Archer went viral.
Archer, who has represented England in all three formats, tweeted simply “46” back on November 21, 2014. The total of 46 marks India’s lowest score in Test history on home soil and ranks as the third lowest overall in the five-day format. Ever since India was bowled out for such a paltry score, netizens have been sharing the England pacer’s tweet humorously.
Kiwis Thrash India at Home
In the short-lived innings of Men in Blue, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was the top scorer for the hosts, managing just 20 runs off 49 balls, while Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 13 runs. No other batter managed to reach double digits, with five players dismissed without scoring. India experienced a disastrous first session on the second day, losing six wickets for just 34 runs after Rohit opted to bat first in a Test match that had its opening day washed out due to rain.
