Annabel Sutherland Shines as Superchargers Cruise Past Originals
Northern Superchargers Women defeated Manchester Originals Women by 8 wickets in Leeds. Originals were bowled out for 94 in 95 balls, with Annabel Sutherland starring with 3 for 15. Chasing 95, Alice Davidson-Richards (30 off 18), Phoebe Litchfield (26*), and Sutherland (30* off 17) powered Superchargers to 96 for 2 in 65 balls.

With the Women’s Hundred tournament delivering non-stop excitement, the showdown between Manchester Originals (Women) and Northern Superchargers (Women) was a rollercoaster of a match. The Originals, sent in to bat after losing the toss, had big plans to pile on runs in the 100-ball format. But the Superchargers’ bowlers had other ideas, squeezing them to a shaky 94 runs in 95 balls. In reply, the Superchargers chased down the target with swagger, wrapping things up in just 65 balls for a crushing 8-wicket win.
Manchester Originals (Women) Innings
The Originals kicked things off with high hopes, their openers Beth Mooney and Kathryn Bryce stepping up to set the tone. Mooney, the team’s captain and wicketkeeper, came out like she meant business. She cracked four boundaries in a lively 20 off 13 balls, her bat swinging with confidence at a strike rate of 153.84. But the mood shifted on the 18th ball when Annabel Sutherland, the Superchargers’ all-rounder with a knack for big moments, got one to jag away. Mooney nicked it, and Nicola Carey snapped up a sharp catch. Just like that, the Originals’ early fire was doused.

Kathryn Bryce, at the other end, was having a tougher time. She poked and prodded her way to 5 runs off 9 balls, her strike rate a sluggish 55.55. Nothing seemed to click for her, and in the 24th ball, Kate Cross, the Superchargers’ seasoned bowler coaxed a loose shot. Alice Davidson-Richards held the catch, and the Originals were suddenly 27 for 2 at the end of the powerplay (25 balls). It wasn’t the start they dreamed of, with the Superchargers’ bowlers already calling the shots.
Next up was Amelia Kerr, the all-rounder everyone expected to steady the ship. But Kerr couldn’t find her rhythm, scratching out 6 runs off 10 balls at a strike rate of 60.00. Her cautious approach let the pressure build, and on the 48th ball, Linsey Smith’s clever spin did the trick. Kerr chipped the ball back to the bowler, a soft dismissal that left the Originals wobbling. Deandra Dottin, the big-hitting star, was the next hope, but even she couldn’t break free. She managed 11 off 13 balls, with a couple of fours, before Grace Ballinger got her to miscue one to Bess Heath behind the stumps in the 41st ball. At 44 for 4 after 48 balls, the Originals were in a proper mess, their middle order staring down a steep challenge.
Alice Monaghan gave the innings a much-needed jolt. She walked in and started swinging, her 26 off 17 balls a defiant stand that included two fours and two massive sixes. With a strike rate of 152.94, she got the Originals past 50 runs in 54 balls, and for a moment, it felt like they might claw their way back. The crowd roared as her sixes sailed into the stands, but her fight ended in the 73rd ball when she skied one off Carey, and Ballinger held on. Eve Jones, who followed, didn’t last long either. She scratched out 3 off 5 balls before a brilliant piece of fielding sent her packing in the 57th ball.
The lower order couldn’t find the spark they needed. Sophie Ecclestone, a superstar with the ball, flopped with the bat, managing 4 off 7 balls before Carey clean-bowled her in the 75th ball. Seren Smale hung around, finishing not out on 7 off 10 balls, but she was left with no one to fight alongside her. Fi Morris tried to inject some urgency with 7 off 5 balls, including a boundary, but Sutherland struck again in the 87th ball, with Ballinger taking the catch. Lauren Filer’s stay was over almost before it began, out for a duck off 2 balls, caught by Heath off Sutherland in the 89th ball. Mahika Gaur, the last batter, scratched out 3 off 4 balls before a run-out in the 95th ball ended the innings at 94.

The Superchargers’ bowlers were on fire. Annabel Sutherland was the star, her 3 wickets for 15 runs in 20 balls a masterclass in control, with an economy rate of 0.75. She got Mooney, Morris, and Filer, and her 10 dot balls kept the Originals under constant pressure. Nicola Carey chipped in with 2 wickets for 13 runs, while Ballinger, Cross, and Smith each grabbed one. Cross was especially tight, giving away just 6 runs in her 15 balls. With only 1 leg bye and 1 wide conceded, the bowlers gave the Originals no room to breathe. The wickets kept falling, partnerships never formed, and the Originals’ total felt well short of what they hoped for, leaving the door wide open for the Superchargers.
Northern Superchargers (Women) Innings
Chasing 95 runs in 100 balls, the Superchargers came out with confidence, knowing the target was within reach. They didn’t just chase it as they steamrolled it, finishing in 65 balls for an 8-wicket win with 35 balls to spare. Openers Davina Perrin and Alice Davidson-Richards had the job of setting the pace, but Perrin couldn’t get going. She scored 5 off 10 balls, with one boundary, before Sophie Ecclestone got her to edge one to Lauren Filer in the 15th ball. At 11 for 1, there was a flicker of hope for the Originals, but the Superchargers weren’t fazed.

Alice Davidson-Richards took charge, playing a cracking knock of 30 off 18 balls. Her six boundaries came at a strike rate of 166.66, and she made the powerplay count, pushing the score to 25 for 1 after 25 balls. She looked in total control, picking gaps and keeping the chase on track. But in the 37th ball, Lauren Filer got her to miscue one, and Deandra Dottin held the catch, leaving the Superchargers at 42 for 2.
That brought Phoebe Litchfield and Annabel Sutherland to the crease, and they put on a show. Their unbeaten 54-run partnership for the third wicket was a masterclass in chasing. Litchfield played the steady hand, her unbeaten 26 off 20 balls including four boundaries at a strike rate of 130.00. She kept things ticking, making sure the Superchargers hit 50 runs in 41 balls. Sutherland, still buzzing from her bowling heroics, went for it, smashing an unbeaten 30 off 17 balls with four fours and a huge six, her strike rate a blazing 176.47. Together, they knocked off 50 runs in just 27 balls, with Sutherland’s big shots putting the game out of reach.

The Originals’ bowlers couldn’t find an answer. Sophie Ecclestone, despite her one wicket, got hit around, leaking 39 runs in her 20 balls at 1.95 runs per ball. Lauren Filer struck to remove Davidson-Richards, conceding 16 runs in 15 balls, but the runs kept flowing. Mahika Gaur bowled neatly, giving away 15 runs in 15 balls, but couldn’t find a breakthrough. Amelia Kerr and Deandra Dottin were toothless, with Dottin’s 5 balls costing 13 runs, including a six. Five wides didn’t help the Originals’ cause, and the Superchargers pounced on anything loose. With a run rate of 1.47 runs per ball, the chase was a breeze, and Litchfield and Sutherland’s partnership made sure there were no hiccups. The win locked in the Superchargers’ spot in the Eliminator, cementing their place as serious contenders.
TCNI’s Magic Moment of the Game
The match’s defining moment was Annabel Sutherland’s brilliant bowling spell, earning her the TCNI’s Magic Moment of the Game. She bowled 20 balls for just 15 runs, picking up 3 wickets at an economy rate of 0.75.

Her 10 dot balls choked the Originals, and her dismissals of Beth Mooney (20 off 13), Fi Morris (7 off 5), and Lauren Filer (0 off 2) broke their back. Even Alice Monaghan’s fighting 26 off 17 couldn’t turn the tide against Sutherland’s precision. Her spell set up the Superchargers’ dominance, restricting the Originals to 94 in 95 balls and earning her the Player of the Match.
TCNI’s Hero of the Day
Alice Davidson-Richards was the TCNI’s Hero of the Day for her electric 30 off 18 balls. Her six boundaries and 166.66 strike rate gave the Superchargers’ chase of 95 the perfect start. Coming in after Perrin’s early exit, she steadied the ship and built a 31-run stand with Litchfield.
