In the latest update, Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife Dhanashree Verma appeared at Mumbai’s Bandra Family Court to finalize their divorce proceedings. The Bombay High Court had earlier set aside the family court’s order that refused to waive the mandatory six-month cooling-off period.

Considering Chahal’s Indian Premier League (IPL) commitments starting March 22, the High Court directed the family court to decide the case by Thursday. According to reports, Chahal and Dhanashree have been separated since June 2022, giving them grounds to request the waiver. The couple, who got married in 2020, filed for divorce in February 2025.

However, their initial plea was denied because Chahal had paid only ₹2.37 crore out of the ₹4.75 crore alimony agreed upon. The court is now making an exception as the couple has lived apart for over two and a half years and settled the alimony terms.
