In the latest incident from the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal was urgently rushed to the hospital after experiencing chest pain during a match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club at the BKSP ground in Savar. The 35-year-old was fielding in the first innings of the 50-over game when the discomfort began. Initially, a helicopter was arranged for his immediate evacuation, but it couldn’t take off from the venue. Later, Tamim was transported to Fazilatunnesa Hospital for medical attention.

Tamim, one of Bangladesh’s most decorated cricketers, officially retired from international cricket in January 2025, just before the Champions Trophy. Over his career, he represented Bangladesh in 243 ODIs, 70 Tests, and 78 T20Is, accumulating more than 15,000 runs across formats. His tally of 25 centuries remains the highest by any Bangladesh batter in international cricket.

Earlier, he had announced his retirement before the 2023 ODI World Cup but reversed the decision, only to miss the tournament due to a back injury. He last played for Bangladesh in September 2023 during an ODI series loss to New Zealand. Tamim later confirmed his retirement, stating that his chapter in international cricket had officially ended.
