SA vs BAN: Verreynne’s Hundred Helps South Africa, Bangladesh Loses Quick Wickets
Kyle Verreynne and Wiaan Mulder helped South Africa to establish a lead of 202 runs against Bangladesh in the first Test. Bangladesh lost three wickets at the score of 101, looking forward to preventing a loss by big margins.
South Africa made a dominant comeback on the second day of the first Test against Bangladesh. Starting the day with a lead of 34 runs, Kyle Verreynne and Wiaan Mulder had an impressive partnership that helped the team extend their lead.
As the day commenced, Wiaan Mulder lost his wicket after scoring 54 runs, marking an end to the 119-run partnership. This wicket was quickly followed by the wicket of Keshav Maharaj, who got out just on the next ball. However, Dane Piedt, who showcased brilliant performances with the ball on day one by taking a wicket in five overs, also helped the team with the bat.
Dane Piedt scored 32 runs in 87 balls before losing his wicket to Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Kyle Verreynne continued to score even more but lost his wicket after scoring 114 runs off 144 balls. He got stumped by Litton Das, thus losing his wicket to Mehidy Hasan Miraz. This helped South Africa to establish a lead of 202 runs for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh could not perform well in the first innings of the game, losing all wickets at the score of 106. This time, they came out with a trail of 202 runs set by South Africa. During the third over, the team lost two quick wickets as Kagiso Rabada took the wicket of Shadman Islam and Mominul Haque. Currently, Bangladesh stands at 101 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Mushfiqur Rahim currently stand not out for the team, having a partnership of 42 runs.
