SA vs BAN: Kyle Verreynne’s Century Rescues South Africa from Collapse
Kyle Verreynne scored 114 runs in the second innings, accompanied by Wiaan Mulder's half-century, which helped South Africa establish a lead of 202. Bangladesh looks to make a comeback in the game, to prevent a big loss.
South Africa made a significant comeback with the help of Wiaan Mulder and Kyle Verreynne on the second day of the first Test against Bangladesh. On the first day, Bangladesh was all-out at a score of 106, as Taijul Islam helped the team come back towards the last session.
South Africa ended the day with a lead of 34 runs but had lost 6 wickets with Wiaan Mulder and Kyle Verreynne still on strike. They took the opportunity on the second day, as Kyle Verreynne, the wicket-keeper batsman of the team, scored 114 runs, along with Wiaan Mulder, who scored 54, which helped the team to finish at a score of 308.
This also helped Kyle Verreynne to become the third keeper of South Africa to score a century in Asia. He has joined the list with Quinton de Kock and AB De Villiers. Mulder and Verreynne had an impressive partnership of 119 runs for the 7th wicket, which helped the Proteas to take up a lead.
Bangladesh will not be happy after their performance in the first home test against South Africa. Previously, they had two away Test series against India and Pakistan, respectively. Although they were able to defeat Pakistan in a clean sweep, they also lost to India in a clean sweep.
The team’s batters could not perform well in the first innings of the game, as South Africa’s pacers, like Kagiso Rabada, took up the early wickets. Bangladesh is now willing to mark a comeback in the game and prevent them from losing it.
