In the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Rohit Sharma’s form has been a major talking point. The Indian captain struggled during the home Test series against New Zealand and the away Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, raising concerns about his international career.

However, the selectors retained him for the home ODI series against England in February 2025, where he silenced critics with a stunning century in the second ODI at Cuttack. Scoring 119 off 90 balls, including 12 fours and 7 sixes, Rohit led India’s successful chase of 305 runs, helping secure the series win.

With the Champions Trophy starting on February 19 in Karachi, fans hope Rohit will continue his form in the eight-team tournament, which runs until March 9 across three venues in Pakistan and one in Dubai. Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik backed Rohit to perform well, emphasizing his crucial role in India’s campaign. He said:

I personally think with the form that he showed in that second game in Cuttack, he will go well for India. And he’s very crucial. Look, the tempo at which he bats actually makes it easier for a lot of the other guys to come through. So Rohit Sharma’s innings every time he walks out to bat is going to be really, really important for Team India.

Rohit, who debuted in ODIs in 2007, has scored 481 runs in 10 Champions Trophy matches. His most notable performance came in the 2017 semi-final, where he scored a century against Bangladesh. As India prepares for their first match, Rohit’s form remains vital for the team’s success in the prestigious tournament.
