Ranji Trophy: BCCI Rejects Bengal’s Request to Delay Ranji Trophy Match Due to Cyclone Dana
BCCI rejects the request made by Cricket Association of Bengal to postpone two of the team's games being played at the home ground. Senior team will be going against Kerala in the next Ranji Trophy round, as the Under 23 team faces Railways Under 23 in the Col CK Naidu Trophy.
The Cyclone Dana has been making its waves across the state of West Bengal, as the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) filed a notice to the BCCI to postpone two of its matches in the Ranji Trophy. These matches are set to be played in Bengal, and are the home games for the team, as they will be looking forward to taking its advantage afterwards.
They wrote to the BCCI to reschedule their Ranji Trophy match against Kerala and the Under 23 Col CK Naidu Trophy game against Railways, as reported by ESPNcricinfo. The senior team of Bengal will be going against Kerala in the next round of the Ranji Trophy, which will be played at the Jadavpur University Campus from Saturday.
The CAB wrote to the BCCI in order to get the match postponed and were in high hopes, as both Bengal and Kerala will be getting a week gap for their upcoming match. On the other hand, Bengal Under 23 team will be going against Railways Under 23 team in the Col CK Naidu Trophy game from 27 October to 30 October. This match will be played at the Bengal Cricket Academy Ground, where the previous Ranji Trophy game of Bengal got washed out due to rain.
Unfortunately, the request was denied by the BCCI, which means that the matches will not be postponed in Bengal. Along with that, the Bengal senior team will be going without players like Abhimanyu Easwaran, Abhishek Porel, and Mukesh Kumar, as they are a part of the India A squad against Australia A.
