For the fans of Virat Kohli, a recent controversy involving singer Rahul Vaidya has stirred social media. The 37-year-old former “Indian Idol” contestant was confronted by paparazzi at Mumbai Airport regarding his remark calling Kohli’s fans “Jokers”. Vaidya clarified in a viral video that he used the term “joker”, not “mad”, to describe the abusive behaviour he and his family faced online. He claimed to have received vulgar messages after commenting on Kohli’s social media activity.

The incident traces back to Kohli, 36, liking bold Instagram posts of actress Avneet Kaur, which he later dismissed as an “algorithm glitch.” Shortly after, Vaidya revealed that Kohli had blocked him on Instagram, to which he sarcastically responded, saying perhaps that too was an algorithm glitch. Vaidya’s joke sparked outrage among Kohli’s fans, leading to personal abuse on his social media pages.

Defending his reaction, Vaidya told the media that calling abusive fans “jokers” was justified and added that he remains a huge fan of cricket and Kohli. “If he’s blocked me, I deserve an answer”, Vaidya stated. Despite the backlash, Vaidya insisted he never insulted Kohli directly but was standing up for himself and his family amid the toxic fan backlash.
