Prithvi Shaw Club Brawl Takes a Twist as Court Rejects Sapna Gill’s Plea
On February 15, 2023, Prithvi Shaw was involved in an altercation at a Mumbai club after refusing multiple selfie requests from Sapna Gill’s friend. The situation escalated, leading to physical confrontations and allegations from both sides. Gill accused Shaw of assault, while Shaw's friend reported threats and extortion attempts. The Bombay High Court refused to quash the FIR, with the next hearing set for April 3.

Ahead of the latest court hearing, the Bombay High Court refused to quash the FIR against social media influencer Sapna Gill in the case involving cricketer Prithvi Shaw. The controversy dates back to February 15, 2023, when an altercation broke out at Mumbai’s Sahara Star’s Mansion Club. Sapna Gill’s friend, Shobit Thakur, repeatedly requested Shaw for selfies while he was dining with a friend. Shaw initially agreed but later declined, leading to a dispute that escalated into a physical confrontation.
As Shaw attempted to leave, Thakur was allegedly attacked with a baseball bat. Shaw’s friend, Ashish Surendra Yadav, was reportedly chased and threatened by six individuals, including Gill, who allegedly demanded ₹50,000. However, Gill countered the allegations, claiming that Shaw and Yadav invited her and Thakur to their VIP table for drinks and later assaulted Thakur. She further accused Shaw of physical and sexual assault and later filed a counter-complaint.
During the February 27, 2025, hearing, Gill’s lawyer argued that the case was baseless, but the court maintained that the FIR included possible criminal offenses. While the extortion charge was deemed weak due to the absence of financial transactions, the court directed the prosecutor to submit the charge sheet before the next hearing on April 3.
