After being humiliated in the ongoing New Zealand tour, former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal has lashed out at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi, demanding his immediate resignation. Pakistan suffered a crushing 84-run defeat in the second ODI, handing New Zealand an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. This comes after Pakistan had already lost the five-match T20I series last month and endured an early exit from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Akmal criticized the PCB’s leadership, calling their handling of the national team “shameful”. He questioned the lack of accountability and urged Naqvi to step down if he couldn’t fix the ongoing crisis. Pakistan’s bowling attack failed to capitalize after reducing New Zealand to 132/5, allowing Mitchell Hay (99*) and Muhammad Abbas (41) to guide the hosts to 292/8.
Pakistan’s batting collapsed to 65/6 before Faheem Ashraf’s 73 off 80 balls and Naseem Shah’s 51 off 44 helped them reach a respectable total. Akmal lamented the team’s lack of discipline and called for urgent changes.
