For the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), IPL 2025 has been a rollercoaster of injuries and comebacks, with the latest boost being the return of speedster Mayank Yadav. After recovering from a series of injuries, including five stress fractures and a toe injury, Yadav rejoined the squad following rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Retained by LSG for Rs 11 crore, the 22-year-old is undergoing a final fitness assessment and could return to action against the Rajasthan Royals.

Yadav impressed in his brief stint last season, taking 7 wickets in 4 matches and winning Player of the Match in his first two games with figures of 3/27 and 3/14. He also made his India debut in the T20I series against Bangladesh, claiming 4 wickets in 3 matches. His raw pace, clocking over 150 kmph, is expected to add firepower to the LSG bowling attack.

With key pacers like Mohsin Khan, Akash Deep, and Avesh Khan injured, LSG roped in Shardul Thakur, who has emerged as their leading wicket-taker with 11 wickets in 7 matches at an economy of 10.96. Currently fifth on the points table with four wins in seven games, LSG will be looking to strengthen their playoff push with Yadav’s comeback.
