Jay Shah Strengthens ICC Ties with Strategic Visit to Dubai Headquarters

Shah emphasized a collaborative approach to elevate the sport. ICC Deputy Chair Imran Khwaja praised Shah's ambition, following his succession of Greg Barclay, ICC Chair since 2020.

After being appointed as the new Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), Jay Shah marked the beginning of his tenure with a visit to the ICC Headquarters in Dubai on December 5, 2024. During this inaugural visit, Shah met ICC Board Directors and staff to discuss strategies and outline a roadmap for the future of cricket.

Shah described the visit as “productive and inspiring”, emphasizing the collaborative effort required to elevate cricket to new heights. He expressed optimism about the journey ahead, stating, “The hard work to elevate cricket to unprecedented heights starts now”. Jay Shah said:

This visit provided an invaluable opportunity to connect with my colleagues on the ICC Board where we discussed the initial roadmap and strategies to shape the future of this incredible sport.

Prominent ICC Board members, including Deputy Chair Imran Khwaja and representatives like Geoff Allardice, Faruque Ahmed, and Mirwais Ashraf, gathered to welcome Shah. Khwaja lauded Shah’s ambitious vision and leadership experience, which he believes will be pivotal in guiding the ICC forward. Shah succeeds Greg Barclay, who has served as ICC Chair since 2020, bringing a fresh perspective and energy to cricket’s global governance.
