Ishan Kishan’s Career Over? BCCI Drops Him from Central Contract List
Ishan Kishan has once again been left out of the BCCI's central contract list due to his absence from domestic cricket. Despite being bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹11.25 crore in IPL 2025, Kishan hasn’t played international cricket since late 2023. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer is expected to regain his contract.

After the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released central contracts for women’s cricketers for the 2024-25 season, attention shifted to the men’s contracts, expected to be announced soon. One of the major talking points is Ishan Kishan’s exclusion for the second consecutive year. Last year, Kishan and Shreyas Iyer lost their contracts after skipping domestic matches, with Shreyas likely to regain his spot this time.
As per BCCI’s contract eligibility, players must feature in at least three Tests, eight ODIs, or ten T20Is in a calendar year. Kishan, however, has not played international cricket since late 2023, opting out due to travel fatigue. Instead of participating in domestic matches, he trained with Hardik and Krunal Pandya in Gujarat.
Despite missing out on the central contract, Kishan remains a key player in IPL 2025, having been bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹11.25 crore. He made an explosive start, scoring an unbeaten 106 off 47 balls in SRH’s opening match against Rajasthan Royals. However, he was dismissed for a golden duck against Lucknow Super Giants. SRH will next face Delhi Capitals on March 30, followed by a match against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 3.
