IND vs NZ: India Trails by 243 Runs as Rohit Sharma Dismissed for Duck
India scored 16 runs for the loss of 1 wicket by the end of day one, trailing by 243 runs. New Zealand all out at the score of 259, as Washington Sundar takes 7 wickets, Ashwin bags three.
By the end of the first day of the second Test match between India and New Zealand in Pune, India had posted 16 runs with the loss of one wicket. Yashasvi Jaiswal (6 runs) and Shubman Gill (10 runs) were not out for the team by the end of 11 overs.
Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper came to open with Yashasvi Jaiswal but he lost his wicket yet again to Tim Southee in the series. But this time, the captain had been dismissed for a duck in the initial stages of the game, when Southee bowled a delivery turning outside to connect with the stumps.
During the start of the day, the New Zealand’s batting line-up started to dominate as Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra scored respective half-centuries for the team. Ravichandran Ashwin and Washington Sundar got the work done for the Indian cricket team, as they took all the wickets for New Zealand by the third session.
Ashwin was able to get the first three wickets for the team, even taking the important wicket of Devon Conway. Sundar started his wicket spree by dismissing Rachin Ravindra in the best delivery possible. Later he went on by taking all the wickets for the team, including the last wicket of Mitchell Santner who scored 33 runs for the team.
As the game heads over to the second day, India will be looking forward to dominate with the bat while New Zealand eyes for some quick wickets to pressurise the Indian batsmen. It is a must win game for the Indian team to maintain their qualification scenario for the World Test Championship final.
