How Rohit Sharma’s Poor Form is Impacting MI’s IPL 2025 Campaign
Rohit Sharma has scored just 56 runs from five innings in IPL 2025, with a best of 18 and a strike rate of 136.58. Mumbai Indians have lost four out of six matches and sit seventh on the points table. Anjum Chopra suggested trying Rohit down the order to spark better starts.

With the Mumbai Indians struggling in IPL 2025, much of the spotlight has fallen on Rohit Sharma’s disappointing form at the top. The former MI skipper has managed only 56 runs across five innings, with a highest score of just 18 and a strike rate of 136.58. As a result, MI have lost four out of six matches so far and sit seventh on the points table.
Former India captain Anjum Chopra weighed in on the situation, pointing out that while being out of form isn’t unusual, Rohit’s lack of impact is hurting MI’s starts. She suggested that the team could consider pushing him down the order to ease the pressure. Chopra emphasized that transitions between tournaments like the Champions Trophy and IPL aren’t always smooth, even for seasoned players.
Rohit was instrumental in India’s Champions Trophy 2025 victory but hasn’t carried that form into the IPL. Despite the current struggles, his career numbers speak volumes — 6684 runs from 262 matches at an average of 35.25 and a strike rate of 131.18, including two centuries and 43 fifties. As one of the league’s all-time greats, expectations remain high, but the current dip in form is undeniably a concern for MI.
