Harbhajan Singh Takes a Dig at MS Dhoni – Calls Out Shocking Stats That Tarnish His Legacy!

During the 11th season of the IPL, Harbhajan Singh highlighted concerns about MS Dhoni’s current form and its impact on Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Despite being 43, Dhoni’s wicketkeeping remains sharp, but his batting performances have declined. Harbhajan pointed out that Dhoni’s contributions in successful chases since IPL 2023 have been minimal, only three runs in nine balls without hitting a single boundary.

However, in losing matches, he has scored 166 runs off 84 balls, averaging 49. This disparity, according to Harbhajan, suggests that Dhoni’s batting isn’t influencing CSK’s victories as it once did. He said:

I would like to present some stats. Dhoni sahab bahut bade khiladi hain, par jab who aaye hain, match khatam ho chuka tha (Dhoni has been a great player, but by the time he came out to bat, the match was all but over). Whenever Dhoni has chased since IPL 2023 in winning causes, he has scored just 3 runs in 9 balls, without a single boundary or six. But in losing causes, Dhoni has scored 166 runs in 84 balls with 13 fours and 13 sixes. This means that Dhoni averages just 8 in matches CSK have won, while in the games lost, his average is 49. Who wants to watch matches lost? And this, I think, is a major issue CSK needs to fix.

In IPL 2025, CSK lost two consecutive matches against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Dhoni remained unbeaten at 30 off 16 balls but batted at No. 9 when the match was already lost. Against Rajasthan Royals, he was dismissed for 16, again in a losing cause. Harbhajan also criticized CSK’s selection choices, questioning why Ruturaj Gaikwad was pushed down the order and why Devon Conway wasn’t playing.

He urged CSK to rethink their strategy and allow Dhoni to bat higher in order to maximize his impact. CSK’s struggles this season stem from poor team combinations and a lack of aggressive batting, making their playoff chances uncertain.
