Fans Celebrate with Memes as India Downs Pakistan in Super Fours
India and Pakistan faced each other for the second time in the Asia Cup, as India won again by 6 wickets. With India starting the Super Fours with a win, Twitter is also flooded with memes related to the match.

The Asia Cup has been a lot intense for the Indian fans, as the team went against Pakistan for the second time in this tournament. Their first match against each other in the Group Stage was easily won by India, with 7 wickets to spare. However, the match was also followed by a no-handshake controversy.
One controversy led to another, but still India and Pakistan faced each other once again, a week after their previous head-to-head match, in the Super Fours. This time, Pakistan started off well, as the team went on to score 171 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, giving them an advantage with a good total.
India vs Pakistan, Super Fours, Dubai | |
---|---|
Pakistan: 171/5 (20 Overs) | India: 174/4 (18.5 Overs) |
Sahibzada Farman: 58 (45) | Abhishek Sharma: 74 (39) |
Shivam Dube: 2/33 | Haris Rauf: 2/26 |
India Won by 6 Wickets |
But India had some other plans, as Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill put up a 105-run stand for the first wicket, washing away all the hopes that were given to the Pakistani fans by their batting line-up. Later, Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya finished the job, as India defeated Pakistan yet again by 6 wickets remaining.
As India secured another win over them, Twitter has been flooded with some insane memes. These are not just memes related to the match result; they have also been made for some iconic moments during the game, such as the clash between Haris Rauf and Shubman Gill, Saim Ayub scoring runs, and a lot more.
Iceland Joins the Meme Party
Not all the memes that were created during the India vs Pakistan match were from the fans. One of them came from the official Twitter handle of Iceland Cricket, as the team’s page is known for trolling Pakistan. Saim Ayub, the Pakistani captain, didn’t score a single run in all three group matches, which put the pressure on him for this match against India.
Saim Ayub – the man, the myth, and the duck-making legend – has hit a boundary!
— Iceland Cricket (@icelandcricket) September 21, 2025
But this time, when Saim Ayub came off to bat, he was finally able to start off with a boundary, breaking his duck streak. Cricket Iceland decided to enter the meme war, as they tweeted, “Saim Ayub — the man, the myth, and the duck-making legend — has hit a boundary!” The way they named Saim Ayub as the duck-making legend was the best way to bring happy trolls for the fans.
Abrar Gets Flashbacks
The match between India and Pakistan is not just about what takes place on the cricket field; it is also about the geopolitical tensions between the two countries, which have strained over the last few months. After the Pahalgam attack, the Indian army responded with strikes at Pakistani bases, marking the success of its Operation Sindoor.

Now, in the match between India and Pakistan, Abrar Ahmad was also bashed for sixes by the Indian batsmen, specially Abhishek Sharma. To this, a Twitter user caught the reaction of Abrar Ahmad being smashed for sixes, and said that he is getting flashbacks after watching the ball fly high in the air before landing.
Unmoved by the Sledges
When the Indian team came out to chase the target that had been set by Pakistan, the team received a good start, with the help of both Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill. Pakistan tried a number of bowling options to get rid of them, going from Shaheen Shah Afridi to Saim Ayub, but nothing worked.

Haris Rauf came to bowl his first over after the power play came to an end, but he was also smashed by both openers. At a point, words were also exchanged between Rauf and Gill, as the Indian vice-captain responded well with his sledges. To this, a Twitter user responded with a famous Hindi quote, where he quoted Pakistani bowlers as street dogs and Indian openers as the elephant, which is unfazed.
Not the El Clásico Anymore?
As India secured yet another win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup, the team has defeated them three times this year, once in the Champions Trophy and twice in the Asia Cup. Moreover, this win was also India’s seventh consecutive win over Pakistan, marking its dominance over the Pakistani team across the ODI and T20I formats.
Rivalry nahhh just a one sided match😂💥🔥
— SaiNath (@SainnathR) September 21, 2025
But to the Indian fans, the clashes against Pakistan are no longer the El Clásico games, which they used to have before. A Twitter user hilariously reacted to the match, saying that India and Pakistan are no longer a rivalry; it is always a one-sided match. Several Indian fans consider it true, as the last time both teams had a thriller was during the T20 World Cup 2022, where India pulled the game off from Pakistan’s hands.
No Seniors, No Problem
The clashes between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 have been different this time, as the Indian team is playing without Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The two senior players of the team announced their retirement from the T20I format after India defeated South Africa to win the T20 World Cup 2024. With their retirements, it was the second time India faced Pakistan in the T20I format.
Pakistan came with noise, went back in silence. Another reminder: India’s youngsters are enough to bully them seniors ki toh zaroorat hi nahi. 💀 #INDvsPAK

After losing the first match in the Group stages, Pakistan decided to use sledges as a way to get in the heads of the Indian batsmen. But the Indian batting line-up responded well with its silence, and a Twitter user reacted to the same. He said that the young guns of India were like, “No Senior, No Problem, we’ll handle Pakistan ourselves”.
New Fear, Same Rivalry
Over the last decade, there has been only one name that haunted the Pakistani team, and it was Virat Kohli. Whether it was a must-win match in the World Cup or a thriller in the T20 World Cup, it was Virat Kohli who took the game from Pakistan’s hands, as the team started to get scared whenever he got to the crease. But with Kohli being retired from the T20I format, Pakistan must have thought that there’s nothing to be scared of now.

— आशुतोष (@bakaitbaaz) September 21, 2025
This was surely a short-lived dream by the Pakistani team and fans, as Abhishek Sharma entered as the next Father of Pakistan, which was a tag held by Virat Kohli for years. With Abhishek Sharma scoring 74 runs off just 39 balls against Pakistan, a Twitter user named him the Youngest Father of Pakistan.
Rauf’s Statement Didn’t Age Well
Before the Asia Cup started, fans were waiting for the clash between India and Pakistan, as they even asked the players about their views on the game. To this, Haris Rauf was also asked about the games Pakistan will be playing against India in the Asia Cup. Rauf reacted by saying that both games will be won by Pakistan, and he seemed a lot chill about the same.
“Dono apne hain” – Rauf before Asia cup 😂😂
— Silicon Wicket (@siliconwicket) September 21, 2025
But fast forward to the next two weeks after his statement, Pakistan ended up losing both of the matches against India. A Twitter user reminded the fans about the statements made by Rauf before the tournament, and now it seems that his statements have not aged well.
India Far from Best, Still Too Good
Although India came out strong in its match against Pakistan, their efforts were still below expectations. A fan tweeted regarding the same, saying that India didn’t bowl well, didn’t field well, and still went on to win the match against Pakistan one-sided. This was not just a tweet to tell how the Indian team turned the game to their side; it showed how poorly Pakistan had been playing throughout.
Despite bowling badly, fielding badly, they beat them single handedly. What a team Pakistan is 🤣🤣
— PS (@alps0716) September 21, 2025
And it surely is true, as Jasprit Bumrah, who is India’s best bowler of the modern era, came out to be costly against Pakistan. Even the team dropped various catches, giving some freebies to the Pakistani batsmen. Despite the target being 172, India ended up chasing it without any issues, or taking the match close enough to keep the fans on the edge of their seats.
India’s Victory, Pycroft’s Delight
When India and Pakistan faced each other in the Group stages, the match did end in India’s favour, but soon took a turn to become a controversy. The Indian players went back without any handshake, as the match referee, Andy Pycroft, also didn’t take any action for the same. PCB appealed to the ICC to remove Pycroft as the match referee, or else they will withdraw from the tournament.

But nothing happened, as once again India and Pakistan faced each other, with Andy Pycroft as the match referee. Pycroft surely wouldn’t have liked the actions taken by the PCB, and would’ve wanted them to lose. This was perfectly shown by an Indian fan, as he posted a meme video on Twitter, highlighting how Andy Pycroft must have entered the Indian dressing room after the team won.
Surya Doesn’t Hold Back
Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian captain, has a good start to the Asia Cup, with the team being undefeated in all four games they have played till now. In the post-match conference, several media reporters talked about the rivalry between India and Pakistan, but Suryakumar Yadav was quick with his answers.

"You guys should stop asking about the rivalry. If there's a scoreline of 7-7 or 8-7, then it's called a rivalry. But if the scoreline is 10-1 or 10-0, it's not a rivalry anymore". 🤣🔥 pic.twitter.com/6VsCOFqAkD
He said that rivalry is one where the scores remain 7-7 or 8-7, but when the scores remain 10-1 or 10-0, it is not a rivalry; it is a one-sided match. This was not just the Indian fans trolling the Pakistani team; it was the Indian captain who destroyed them yet again with his mic skills.
