The moment the Male team experienced in 1983 has now happened to the Female team in the year 2025. Beating South Africa in the finals, India has become the winner of the Women’s World Cup. The team had previously reached the finals in 2005 and 2017, both of which they lost.

It was, however, very different this time because India met South Africa in a historic final. The last match became cinematic with Shafali Verma registering 87 runs and Deepti Sharma registering a half-century in a five-wicket haul. It was a huge Sunday for the Indian fans, with the Women’s team winning the World Cup and the Men’s team winning a T20I match in Australia. Following the victory, fans have overwhelmed Twitter with their ridiculous reactions and memes.

WPL Contract Incoming

Anneke Bosch was not able to perform well for South Africa in the final clash. In the field, she dropped various catches of the Indian batters and even did some misfielding, which cost them more runs. Eventually, India was able to score 298 runs in their innings and gave a massive target to them.

For this, a Twitter page has created the perfect meme that could describe the future of Bosch. It has been mentioned that now with these dropped catches, Bosch certainly deserves a contract in the Women’s Premier League. Being one of the highest-paid Women’s franchise leagues, she deserves it for putting the game in India’s favour.

Not a Good Moment for the Fans

These days, one thing has been common for India’s games: the Indian team losing the toss. This also happened in the Women’s World Cup final clash. India had lost the toss in this match and they were sent to bat first. Despite not being able to win the toss, the Indian batters decided to make a difference.

But this moment may have reminded the fans of the most traumatic match lately. In the 2023 World Cup final, Australia won the toss against India and they had sent the Indian team to bat first. Later, they also chased down the total, and taking a look at the similar events taking place, it may have scared them to a great extent.

Surprise Appearances

The final match between India and South Africa in the Women’s World Cup was played in Navi Mumbai. While fans expected the boundaries and even the BCCI officials to be present in the stand, a surprise appearance also took place in the same. Rohit Sharma, the former Indian captain, was present to watch the final match.

Upon his appearance, the whole crowd started to chant his name, as Rohit won India two consecutive ICC trophies. To this, a Twitter user used the best meme possible, as he determined Rohit’s situation. Using the viral Mirzapur meme, he said Rohit Sharma has his own aura.

Priorities Set

For the Indian fans, Sunday was filled with blockbuster clashes. First, it was the third T20I match between India and Australia, which was set to be played in Hobart. As India was finishing off the chase there, the final clash against South Africa was affected by rain.

But despite being in different countries, one could not miss watching the final of his home team. This was also the case in India’s dressing room in Australia during the third T20I. A viral photo shows the Indian team watching the Women’s World Cup final clash in the dressing room.

Proper Indian Ritual?

If you have been active on social media for a long time, you would know about Prafull Billore, also known as MBA Chaiwala. Fans had started to call him a Panauti, as the team that he supported ended up losing the game. He also got to know about this and took it as a meme.

During the T20 World Cup 2024 finals against South Africa, he had posted photos with the South Africa team, which were edited. A Twitter page got reminded of this ritual ahead of the Women’s World Cup final. He posted an image of the South Africa Women’s team and added Prafull Billore to the same.

Wolvaardt Learned from Cummins?

During the 2023 World Cup final, the interview of Pat Cummins went a lot viral. He went on to say that he would love to silence the crowd by defeating India in the finals. Later in the final match, Cummins ended up winning the toss, and he decided to field first.

The same also happened in the 2025 Women’s World Cup final against South Africa. Their skipper, Laura Wolvaardt, talked about silencing the crowd by winning the finals. In the toss, she was also able to win and sent the Indian team to bat first. This reminded the fans a lot of the 2023 World Cup final.

Clutch Player

In the final match against South Africa, Deepti Sharma played a vital role for the team. And her role was not just restricted to all that she had done with the bat. Deepti was able to score a half-century for the team in the finals and returned to contribute with the ball as well.

She ended up taking a five-wicket haul in the Women’s World Cup final clash, as India won their maiden title. For her performances, fans have started to call her a clutch player for the Indian team. A Twitter page even posted an image of a car controls guide, where clutch, brake, and accelerator are marked. But in place of the car’s clutch, the image of Deepti Sharma is placed.

Jay Shah Style

Over the last two years, India has hosted the World Cup twice. First, the team hosted the Men’s World Cup in 2023, when Jay Shah was a part of the BCCI. India went undefeated to the finals of the tournament but ended up losing the ultimate clash against Australia. After this, India hosted the Women’s World Cup 2025, along with Sri Lanka.

This time, the things that happened in the 2023 World Cup were not repeated. India was finally able to win the World Cup and make history with the same. To this, a Twitter page has created a meme on the ICC Chairman, Jay Shah. He used the viral Dangal movie meme, where Jay Shah says that the girls are better than the boys.

Ashwin Went Wrong!

When India had completed its innings, the total of 298 runs scored by them looked defendable. But underestimating South Africa at this time would also have been bad, as the team has depth in its batting line-up. A Twitter user first said that defending is not easy at DY Patil and talked a bit about the game strategies.

To this, the former Indian cricketer, Ravichandran Ashwin, also reacted by saying that South Africa will be able to chase this total with 5 overs to spare. Fast forward now, South Africa was not even able to get at least a trail of 50 runs in the finals against India.

Shafali: The Star

After the final match against South Africa, it is clear to the fans that Shafali Verma is the star of the Indian team. She scored 87 runs with the bat, and when she returned with the ball, she also took 2 wickets for the team, putting them at a good position in the game.

Being a young talent, she also showed that she is multi-talented. To this, a Twitter page has created a meme, which perfectly describes how Shafali Verma performed in the Women’s World Cup final match. It used the viral meme of the 3 Idiots professor, where he is flawlessly writing on two different papers with both his hands at the same time.

Wolvaardt Got Williamson Ending

Just like every coin has two sides, every final match also has two sides. With India winning the Women’s World Cup, fans saw Harmanpreet Kaur having tears of joy in her eyes. On the other hand, Laura Wolvaardt, despite giving her best in the knockouts, was not able to get her hands on the World Cup.

Despite the loss, she was seen having a smile on her face while on camera. This has reminded fans of Kane Williamson, who lost the 2019 World Cup final by the barest of margins. Both of them were fighters for their teams, but fate decided to keep the World Cup titles away from them.

Let the New Champ Enter

For the Indian team, there have been a few captains who have helped them to win the World Cup. It started with Kapil Dev in 1983, and the legacy was again carried out by MS Dhoni in 2011. But Dhoni was able to win the T20 World Cup in 2007, followed by the 2011 World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy.

After this, the Indian team got Rohit Sharma, who helped them to win the T20 World Cup 2024. With three World Cup-winning captains already present, another name has been added to the list. And it is Harmanpreet Kaur, who will now be added to the World Cup-winning captains list for the Indian team.
