Cricket in Numbers: Which Countries Have the Most Triple-Format Centurions?
Cricket in the modern era has made centuries a great accomplishment, but scoring centuries in all three formats of the game shows the versatility and adaptability to different formats.

From tough conditions in the Test to explosive batting style in the T20Is, these batsmen have made it look easy to smash centuries across any format of the game. In the history of cricket, only 27 men have been able to achieve the rare feat of scoring centuries in all three formats of the game. Let’s take a look at the list of nations that lead the charts when it comes to having the most triple-format centurions.
India
Five Indian batsmen have etched their names in the list of players who have scored a century in all three formats of the game. This is not just a normal list, as it includes all-time legendary Indian stars such as Suresh Raina, KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill. These batsmen have shown the strength India carries in its batting depth.
Player Name | Test Centuries | ODI Centuries | T20I Centuries |
---|---|---|---|
Suresh Raina | 1 | 5 | 1 |
Rohit Sharma | 12 | 32 | 5 |
KL Rahul | 10 | 7 | 2 |
Virat Kohli | 30 | 51 | 1 |
Shubman Gill | 8 | 8 | 1 |
Suresh Raina was the first Indian to get his name on the list, scoring centuries in all three formats. His first Test century came against Sri Lanka in 2010, where he scored 120 in the second Test. However, his first ODI century came long before this, as he smashed 101 runs against Hong Kong in 2008. In 2010, Raina scored his maiden T20I century against South Africa, smashing the Proteas bowlers for 101, and these innings helped him to be the first Indian in this list.
Rohit Sharma became the second player to get his name in this list, and he also holds 49 centuries across all formats of the game. It all started with his first ODI century, which came in 2010 against Zimbabwe, where he scored 114 runs. Following this, he scored his maiden Test century against the West Indies, where he ended up scoring 177 runs. Later in October 2015, he scored his 106 runs in a T20I match against South Africa, to etch his name in the list.

With Rohit getting his name in 2015, it was followed by KL Rahul, who now holds 19 centuries across all formats. It all started with his first Test century, which came against Australia in 2015, as Rahul scored 110. Following this, he scored 100 runs against Zimbabwe in the ODI format, getting his maiden ODI century in June. Later in August, he scored a ton against the West Indies in the T20I format, getting his name on the list.
The King of Cricket, Virat Kohli, also got his name on this list when he finally achieved his 71st international century in 2022. Holding 82 centuries across all formats to his name, it all started with Kohli smashing his first ODI century against Sri Lanka in 2009. Later, he scored 116 runs against Australia in 2012 to smash his first Test ton. Just a decade after the same, Kohli scored his first T20I hundred against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2022, when he ended up scoring 122.

Shubman Gill, the current Test captain, was the last Indian player to get his name in this list. Making his debut in 2019, Gill smashed his maiden ODI century against Zimbabwe, scoring 130 runs. He further went on to score his maiden Test century against Bangladesh, scoring 110 runs in the game. Gill’s first T20I century came against New Zealand in 2023, when he scored 123 runs and remained not out.
Australia
Australia holds the second spot in this list, as only four Australian batsmen have managed to score centuries across all formats of the game. A team known for its explosive batting line-up also holds some versatile players, with the names of Shane Watson, Glenn Maxwell, David Warner, and Josh Inglis being present in this list.
Player Name | Test Centuries | ODI Centuries | T20I Centuries |
---|---|---|---|
Shane Watson | 4 | 9 | 1 |
Glenn Maxwell | 1 | 4 | 5 |
David Warner | 26 | 22 | 1 |
Josh Inglis | 1 | 1 | 2 |
Shane Watson became the first Australian player to etch his name on this iconic list in 2016. Holding 16 international centuries to his name, Watson started with his first ODI century against the West Indies in 2008. Later in 2009, he was able to score his first Test century against Pakistan, scoring 120 runs in the innings. For his T20I century, he waited till 2016, when he smashed 124 runs against India and got his name on this list.

Following Shane Watson was another terrifying Australian all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell. He started with his first ODI century against Sri Lanka in 2015, when he scored 102 runs. This was followed by his first T20I century, which also came against Sri Lanka in 2016, when he scored 145 runs and remained not out. Fortunately, he didn’t have to wait for his maiden Test ton, as he scored it against India during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2017.
David Warner, one of Australia’s finest openers, was the third Australian to get his name in this list. Having scored 49 centuries across all formats, he started with his first Test century against New Zealand in 2011, when he scored 123 runs. Just a few months later, in 2012, Warner smashed his first ODI ton against Sri Lanka, scoring 163 runs in a game. He waited till 2019 to get his first T20I ton, which also came against Sri Lanka, when he scored 100 runs and remained not out.

Josh Inglis is the last Australian player to have his name in the list, which became possible in February 2025. He started by smashing his maiden T20I century against India, scoring 110 runs. Later in January 2025, he was able to score his first Test century, which came against Sri Lanka. In the Champions Trophy, he was also able to score his first ODI century, which came against England.
England
England stands at the third spot in this list, as only two men in the history of the England Cricket team have managed to score centuries across all formats of the game. Although there have been players who reached close to this mark, the only two to accomplish the same are Jos Buttler and Dawid Malan.
Player Name | Test Centuries | ODI Centuries | T20I Centuries |
---|---|---|---|
Jos Buttler | 2 | 11 | 1 |
Dawid Malan | 1 | 4 | 1 |
Jos Buttler, the first English player to get his name on this list, holds 14 international centuries to his name. It all started when Buttler smashed his first ODI century against Sri Lanka back in 2014, when he scored 121 runs. In the 2018 Test series against India, Buttler was able to dominate as he scored 106 runs in an innings, which was also his maiden Test century. Later in 2021, Jos Buttler scored his first T20I century against Sri Lanka, which helped him to become the first English player with centuries in all formats.

With the inclusion of Jos Buttler, Dawid Malan quickly followed, getting his name to this list in 2022. Malan smashed his first Test century against Australia in 2017, when he scored 140 runs in an innings. Later in 2019, he was able to get his first T20I century in a match against New Zealand, where he ended up scoring 103 runs in the game. He was just left with his ODI century. Malan also accomplished the same in 2022, in an ODI match against the Netherlands, where he scored 125 runs.
New Zealand
Similar to England, New Zealand also has two players who have scored centuries across all three formats of the game. However, it should be noted that since 2012, no player from New Zealand has been able to etch his name into this iconic list. Currently, the only two players from New Zealand in this list are Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptill.
Player Name | Test Centuries | ODI Centuries | T20I Centuries |
---|---|---|---|
Brendon McCullum | 12 | 5 | 2 |
Martin Guptill | 3 | 18 | 2 |
Known for his aggressive batting style, McCullum got his name on this list in 2010. He started off with his maiden Test century against Bangladesh in 2004, when he scored 143 runs in an innings. In July 2008, he showcased his batting skills in the ODI format, smashing his maiden ton against Ireland. Later in 2010, he scored his first T20I century, which came against Australia when he scored 116 runs.

Martin Guptill shortly got his name on this list when he completed centuries in all formats in 2012. Guptill started with his maiden ODI century against the West Indies in 2009, which was followed by his maiden Test century in 2010 against Bangladesh. Later in 2012, Martin Guptill smashed his first T20I century against South Africa, scoring 101 runs in the game.
West Indies
A team that was once known for its dominance in international cricket, the West Indies, also stands in this list at the fifth spot, with just two players having their names in this list. These two players are Chris Gayle and Shai Hope, and they have also been crucial elements for the team, redefining its legacy across all formats of the game.
Player Name | Test Centuries | ODI Centuries | T20I Centuries |
---|---|---|---|
Chris Gayle | 15 | 25 | 2 |
Shai Hope | 2 | 17 | 1 |
Chris Gayle became the first player in cricket history to score centuries in all formats, which he did in 2007. Holding 42 international centuries to his name, Gayle scored his first Test century against Zimbabwe in July 2001, when he scored 175 runs. Just a month later in August, he smashed his first ODI century against Kenya, scoring 152. In 2007, he scored his first T20I century against South Africa, becoming the first player to score centuries in all formats.

The recent addition to this list is Shai Hope, making him the second Caribbean player to be in this list. He started by smashing his first ODI century against Zimbabwe in 2016, which was quickly followed by his first Test century against England in 2017. However, in the recently concluded T20I series against Australia, Shai Hope smashed 102 runs in a game, becoming the second Caribbean to score centuries in all formats.
