Cricket Bloopers: England Thrashes South Africa Bowling and Fans Go Wild Online
While fans are waiting for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to make their comeback in the series against Australia, England has unleashed its carnage in the T20I series against South Africa.

During the second T20I match of the series, England became the first team (among the full members of the ICC) to score more than 300 runs in a T20I match. Whether it was Kagiso Rabada or Marco Jansen, every Proteas bowler got smashed by the English batsmen at the finest. However, this also started a meme fest on Twitter, with fans showcasing their skills after England’s dominance with the bat. Let’s take a look at some of the most hilarious tweets following England’s mammoth total against South Africa.
Crowd Energy Beyond Boundaries
When England and South Africa went against each other in a T20I series, the Indian team was already playing the Asia Cup, which didn’t seem too interesting for the fans. A major reason behind the same has been the retirement of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma from the T20I format, which comes as a major miss for the fans in the shortest format of the game.

However, the Indian fans were very excited for the match between England and South Africa, as the dominance of the English batsmen attracted them the most. To this, a Twitter user posted an image showcasing that, despite watching the Asia Cup, the Indian fans are currently having more interest in the series between England and South Africa.
Looks More Practice Than Contest
In the second T20I match between England and South Africa, the home team took advantage of their ground to such a great extent that it looked easy for them to smash boundaries. Just a year ago, fans used to think that scores above 250 could only be seen in the Indian Premier League, with its explosive batsmen and flat pitches, but watching it in England seemed surreal.
Ridiculous boundary dimensions… More like kids school play ground
— Easy Talks (@EasyAsPie372040) September 12, 2025
If you have grown up playing the game, you might remember how easily boundaries were scored in the school grounds. A Twitter user might have remembered the same, as he questioned the boundary dimensions of Old Trafford, making it look more like a school playground for the English batsmen.
Target Too Small to Defend?
When England finished scoring 304 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets, the majority of the cricket fans knew that there was no chance for South Africa to chase down this mammoth total. However, a Twitter user was hoping that the Proteas could pull off the biggest chase in T20I history by chasing this “easy” total.
SA will create history by chasing this easy total
— Talk Nerdy (@TalkNerdyto) September 12, 2025
But his tweet did not age well, as South Africa ended up being bundled out for just the score of 158, losing by a big margin to England. Now, some of the fellow Twitter users are asking him why the Proteas couldn’t chase down this ‘easy total’ while others also think that he might have jinxed their chase.
Proteas’ Consistency Turns into Command
Over the last three series played by South Africa (ODI against England & Australia, T20I series against England), the team has seen a similar pattern across all of them. In one of the matches across all three series, their bowlers have been bashed all around the ground, similar to what England did in the previous T20I match.
From last 3 series, South Africa gets thrashed in one match but still walks away with the series
— SagarBaazi (@sagar_baazi) September 12, 2025
A Twitter user hilariously pointed out this series of events or consistency by the Proteas, as the pattern has repeated for them for the last three series. But, he also said that the team manages to win the series which have fallen under this pattern. Now, England and South Africa will be going against each other for a series decider T20I match, which will be played at Nottingham.
England’s Recipe for Destruction
For every big score that has been set by the teams across all formats of the game, the foundation is being laid by the opening pair. And for the match between England and South Africa, England got their foundation to the mammoth total with the help of a destructive start by Phil Salt and Jos Buttler.

Taking these in use of some kitchen terms, Salt is commonly used in all the dishes, and Butler has been known for his work with the dining. A Twitter user was able to take the context of the English openers with the kitchen recipe, as he said that the team pulled off the perfect recipe for the destruction of the Proteas bowlers.
RCB Colours, Global Impact
When England put down a massive total of 304 runs against South Africa, there was an RCBian who played a major role in the same, and it was none other than Phil Salt. Known for his role as an aggressive opener, Phil Salt proved his worth to the England team, showcasing his impact at a global level.

Buttler – 83 (30).
Brook – 41* (21).
Bethell – 26 (14).

The RCB fans were quick enough to notice the dominance of RCB players at a level that still remains unmatched. But Phil Salt was not just the only RCB player who smashed the Proteas bowlers in the second T20I. Jacob Bethell also went on to score 26 runs off 14 balls, adding a bit from his side to the team’s impressive total.
Cricket Has Been Unpredictable Lately
Over the past few days, cricket has been a lot unpredictable for the Indian fans, especially as they are keeping track of the series between England and South Africa, along with the Asia Cup. In the match between the UAE and India, the Indian team was able to restrict the UAE to just 57 runs, which further helped them to easily chase the total.
ye kya ho gya dekhte dekhte…abhi kuch din pahle 57 dekhe the or ab 300….what the hell is going on in cricket
— Sporttify (@sporttify) September 12, 2025
Just a few days after that, fans were shocked to see the match between England and South Africa, where England posted 304 runs. To this, a Twitter user reacted by saying that the game made us go from watching 57 runs in an innings to more than 300, which shows its unique nature across nations. Another fun fact is that Phil Salt alone scored more runs than were scored in the match between India and UAE.
Did South Africa Order a Thali?
In the match between England and South Africa, only four of the English batters made it to the crease, but they ensured to serve proper devastation to the Proteas bowlers. Whether it was Phil Salt or Jos Buttler, Harry Brook or Jacob Bethell, each and every batsman of the team served boundaries to every Proteas bowler.
Salt peppered, Buttler grilled, Brook smoked, Bethell garnished — South Africa served full thali. 🍽️🤣
— Bharat (@bharat_in) September 12, 2025
A Twitter user thought that the South African team ordered a Thali in England, due to which they were served by their batsmen way too badly. To this, he said that the dish was peppered by Phil Salt, grilled by Jos Buttler, smoked by Harry Brook, and, in the end, garnished by Jacob Bethell.
England Forgets the Formats
During the ODI series against South Africa, England showcased its rampage way too late, during the last match of the series. The team went on to score 414 runs for the loss of just 5 wickets, and even ended up winning the game by 342 runs, which made their total and win margin look way too similar to that of the Test matches.
England turned T20 into ODI, and made ODI look like a Test
— Manish (@Manishkaindal01) September 13, 2025
Also in the T20I match against South Africa in Manchester, they became the first full member ICC nation to score 300 runs in an innings in a T20I match. This score is something which is often achieved by teams in the ODI format, as a Twitter user said that the team made ODIs look like Tests and T20Is look like ODIs.
SRH’s Dream Achieved by England
In the Indian Premier League 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad looked a lot stronger with its batting line-up, filled with aggressive players such as Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Heinrich Klaasen, and many more. With such a strong batting line-up, the team reached close to the 300-run mark during the season, but were never able to cross the same.
Srh in shambles
— ichigo (@Ichigo_kurasak2) September 13, 2025
Various fans thought that if there was any team to reach 300 runs in the T20 format, it would be Sunrisers Hyderabad. But England broke their hopes with the IPL team, as they took a wild card entry with their bats. The target of one team being achieved by the other, which was totally out of competition, must have left Sunrisers Hyderabad in shambles, according to a Twitter user.
