The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is going on and there have been performances where players have showcased their skills. In a recent interview, legendary West Indies cricketer Brian Lara shared his current favorite batsman and bowler across international cricket. Lara named India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal as his top choice, highlighting his impressive consistency despite a recent low score.

He also acknowledged Joe Root’s record but expressed a preference for Jaiswal’s style. Regarding bowlers, Lara praised India’s Jasprit Bumrah as the best in the world, emphasizing his ability across all formats. Bumrah has been instrumental in India’s recent Test victories, claiming several crucial wickets. He said:

Obviously, the record of Joe Root at present, and that’s just going on record. But if you want to know the batter that I like the most, it would definitely be Jaiswal. And the bowler that is definitely the best in the world right now is Jasprit Bumrah. I think he’s awesome, and the way he operates in all versions of the game, T20, the limited-overs, test cricket, it’s just tremendous to see the ability.

This year, Jaiswal has amassed over 1,300 runs, making him one of the standout performers. Lara’s admiration for both players highlights their remarkable talents in the ongoing cricket season, with Jaiswal and Bumrah continuing to shine for India on the international stage.
