The first day of the Test match between Bangladesh and South Africa saw raining wickets, as South Africa finished with a lead of 34 runs by stumps. Bangladesh batted first as their batting order stumbled badly, resulting in the team all out at a score of 106. Kagiso Rabada, Wiaan Mulder, and Keshav Maharaj took 3 wickets each, having an economy of less than 3 runs per over.

Mahmudul Hasan Joy was the leading run scorer for the Bangladesh’s cricket team, scoring just 30 runs off 97 deliveries. Kagiso Rabada took his first wicket of the day by dismissing Mushfiqur Rahim, which also marked his 300th Test wicket. The lower order of Bangladesh tried to score some runs but were eventually restricted to the score of 106.

South Africa came out to bat in the second innings, expecting for a good start. But Hasan Mahmud striked early by taking the wicket of Aiden Markram. Tristan Stubbs and Tony de Zorzi later stabilised the team but they lost quick wickets yet again. Taijul Islam helped Bangladesh by shifting the game in their favour. He was able to take the next five wickets for the team, which dismantled the top order of the Proteas batting line-up.

Currently, Kyle Verreynne and Wiaan Mulder are on a partnership of 34 runs, as the team expects them to increase the lead to a great extent during the first session of Day 2. Verreynne is currently batting at the score of 18, while Mulder has scored 17 runs so far.
