Arshdeep Shocks Everyone! Not Shreyas Iyer, He Decides Punjab’s Impact Sub & Changes the Game

In a clever move, Arshdeep Singh brought in Vijaykumar Vyshak as Punjab’s Impact Sub against Gujarat Titans. Vyshak’s tight overs shifted momentum as GT fell 11 runs short chasing 243. Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten 97* off 42 sealed Punjab’s win, while Sehwag slammed GT skipper Shubman Gill’s poor captaincy.

During the IPL 2025 clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Gujarat Titans (GT), Arshdeep Singh’s smart move turned the game in Punjab’s favor. While Punjab skipper Shreyas Iyer was expected to decide the Impact Player, it was Arshdeep who signaled for Vijaykumar Vyshak to be introduced as the Impact Sub after dismissing Sai Sudharsan in the 13th over. Recognizing left-hander Sherfane Rutherford’s arrival, Arshdeep anticipated that Vyshak’s reverse swing away from the left-hander would trouble him. Punjab already had two left-arm pacers — Arshdeep and Marco Jansen — who would naturally bring the ball into Rutherford.

Vyshak bowled tight lines, conceding just 10 runs in his first two overs and breaking GT’s momentum. Although his final figures were 0/28, his spell proved vital. Rutherford struggled early, managing just 23 runs off his first 18 balls, before eventually scoring 46 off 28. Gujarat Titans fell short by 11 runs, finishing at 232/5 while chasing 243.

Shreyas Iyer starred for Punjab with an unbeaten 97 off 42 balls, hitting five fours and nine sixes, earning the Player of the Match award. Meanwhile, former India batter Virender Sehwag criticized Shubman Gill’s captaincy, especially for replacing Siraj with Arshad Khan, who leaked 21 runs, shifting the game’s momentum.
