While Punjab skipper Shreyas Iyer was expected to decide the Impact Player, it was Arshdeep who signaled for Vijaykumar Vyshak to be introduced as the Impact Sub after dismissing Sai Sudharsan in the 13th over. Recognizing left-hander Sherfane Rutherford’s arrival, Arshdeep anticipated that Vyshak’s reverse swing away from the left-hander would trouble him. Punjab already had two left-arm pacers — Arshdeep and Marco Jansen — who would naturally bring the ball into Rutherford.
Vyshak bowled tight lines, conceding just 10 runs in his first two overs and breaking GT’s momentum. Although his final figures were 0/28, his spell proved vital.
