Essex County Cricket Club has recently announced Andy Tennant as the director of the women’s team for the upcoming domestic seasons. Tennant comes in with a good experience when it comes to his coaching skills, where he led the Sunrisers to win the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.
Danni Warren, who has also been with Andy in Sunrisers, joined Essex as the new performance director of the team. This may be a turnaround for the team as the champion coaches have now joined them.
Andy Tennant talked about the role and working with Danni Warren for the Essex Women’s team, saying that,
Having worked with Danni and the majority of the staff and players at Sunrisers, I know the strength and potential of the team we’re building here. Our focus will be on creating an environment where players and staff can thrive and fulfil their potential, both on and off the field. This is a fantastic opportunity to drive towards sustainable success and help Essex Women become a leading force in the game.
Women’s Teams in T20 Blast and One Day Cup
Essex is currently practising well as the team is among the eight teams of the ECB’s tier 1 status. The other countries along with Essex include Durham, Hampshire, Lancashire, Nottinghamshire (The Blaze), Somerset, Surrey, and Warwickshire. It will lead to some changes in the year 2027, as Glamorgan and Yorkshire will also be added to the list.
The upcoming domestic season will be historical for women, as they will be participating in the T20 Blast and One Day Cup, alongside the men’s team.
