Was Glenn Maxwell Blocked by Virat Kohli on Instagram?

Australia’s all-rounder and current Royal Challengers Bangalore player in the IPL, Glenn Maxwell, recently shared a humorous story about being blocked on Instagram by India’s star batsman Virat Kohli. This happened during the 2017 Border-Gavaskar Trophy when Maxwell jokingly mimicked Kohli’s shoulder injury on the field, which led Kohli to temporarily block him on social media.

During a chat, Glenn Maxwell shared that when he first met Virat Kohli at the 2021 RCB training camp, he attempted to follow Kohli on Instagram but couldn’t locate his account. Curious, Maxwell asked Kohli about it, only to learn that he’d been blocked. Kohli confirmed this, explaining it was because of Maxwell’s playful mockery of Kohli’s shoulder injury during the 2017 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, leading to the humorous social media block.

He said:

I was like “I can’t find him.” I’m sure he’s on social media somewhere, so I didn’t think anything of it. Not really that maybe he wasn’t savvy with Instagram. Didn’t really understand why he wasn’t coming up and then someone mentioned that he might have blocked me. That is the only way you’re not able to find him. I was like surely not. Then I went and asked him, “have you blocked me on Instagram?” And he was like, “yeah probably. It was when you mocked me during that Test match. I think I got the s**t and decided to block you. I was like ‘yeah, that’s fair enough’.” So yeah, he ended up unblocking me, and we became great friends after that,
