New Zealand recently toured Sri Lanka for three ODIs and two T20IS in November. The T20I series ended in a 1-1 draw, with Sri Lanka winning the first match and New Zealand clinching a thrilling victory in the second. It was a closely contested series, showcasing the competitive nature of both teams.

The ODI series ended 2-0 in favor of Sri Lanka, as they completely outclassed an inexperienced New Zealand team. The Lankans took the first two matches comfortably, while the final ODI was washed out due to rain. It was a dominant series performance by the home side.

The upcoming series between Sri Lanka and New Zealand is scheduled to be played at the end of this year, from December 28, 2024, to January 11, 2025. It is expected to be the last bilateral series for both teams before the Champions Trophy 2025, providing a crucial preparation opportunity for the tournament.

Although the Lankan Lions haven’t qualified for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, New Zealand has. The final schedule for the tournament has yet to be announced, but it’s likely to be held in February-March next year. The ODI series is crucial for New Zealand’s preparation, as they lost 0-2 to Sri Lanka recently.
