For the first time since the conclusion of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the latest ODI rankings have been updated, bringing significant changes among the top batters. India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, has surged to the No. 3 spot after his match-winning knock of 76 runs in the final against New Zealand. He now sits just behind Pakistan’s Babar Azam (No. 2) and teammate Shubman Gill, who retains his position as the No. 1 ranked ODI batter.

Rohit had a below-par tournament leading up to the final, which saw his ranking drop during the group stage. However, his composed innings in the summit clash helped India secure their third Champions Trophy title and boosted his ranking by two places.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli, who had a strong tournament overall, faced a setback in the final. He was dismissed for just 1 run by Michael Bracewell, leading to a drop in his ranking. Kohli slipped one place to No. 5, allowing South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen to move up to No. 4. Despite finishing as India’s second-highest run-scorer in the tournament, Kohli missed out on the Player of the Tournament award.

These rankings reflect the impact of the Champions Trophy final, where performances in crucial moments played a decisive role in shaping the standings.
