RCB Takes Savage Dig at Rohit Sharma Over Captaincy Drama Ahead of IPL 2025 Opener!
Just before IPL 2025, RCB roasted Mumbai Indians’ captaincy saga in a viral video featuring Rajat Patidar. The dig referenced MI's shift from Rohit Sharma to Hardik Pandya, which angered fans. MI finished last in IPL 2024 and Hardik faces a one-match ban, with Suryakumar Yadav leading MI vs CSK on March 23.

During the build-up to IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) took a cheeky dig at Mumbai Indians (MI) over their captaincy saga through a social media video. In the video, RCB’s host Mr. Nags jokingly asked new RCB skipper Rajat Patidar if other teams should seek approval from their former captains before announcing new ones. Patidar brushed it off, leading to the punchline “Mai nahi samjha” (I didn’t understand), with a strong emphasis on “MAI”, indirectly targeting MI.
The dig referenced Mumbai Indians’ controversial decision last year to replace Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya as captain, which sparked fan outrage. Hardik, who led MI to a last-place finish in IPL 2024, was heavily booed by fans across venues. Despite backlash, MI stuck with him as captain, though he will miss their 2025 opener due to a one-match ban. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side against Chennai Super Kings on March 23.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma, a five-time IPL-winning captain will play IPL 2025 solely as a batter. RCB, led by new captain Rajat Patidar, will open their campaign against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. Last season, RCB finished fourth but crashed out in the Eliminator against Rajasthan Royals.
