Pakistan Cricket team’s previous head coach Gary Kirsten decided to resign from his post earlier today, due to the contrasting ideas of him and the team. Due to this reason, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced Jason Gillespie as the new coach for the limited-overs format.

This was necessary for the team, as they will be going against Zimbabwe and Australia. PCB also accepted the fact that the resignation of Kirsten came out on mutual terms, and Gillespie has been given the team’s charge for the series against Zimbabwe and Australia, whose squad has been announced.

Making this announcement, Pakistan Cricket Board said on X,

“The Pakistan Cricket Board today announced Jason Gillespie will coach the Pakistan men’s cricket team on next month’s white-ball tour of Australia after Gary Kirsten submitted his resignation, which was accepted.”

It had been just six months for Gary Kirsten to be announced as the team’s head coach, and due to the recent developments in the team, he decided to resign from the same. Some reports even say that the Pakistan Cricket Board was against the decisions made by Kirsten when it came to the squads against Zimbabwe and Australia.

The sources said,

“PCB used the same approach when its new selection committee denied and ignored test coach Jason Gillespie and captain Shan Masood from having a say in team selection. And while the selection committee’s attitude did not sit well with Jason Gillespie, he was adamant about continuing his duties. Gary Kirsten on the other hand has taken a different route and announced his resignation.”
