The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have kicked off their IPL 2025 campaign in style, securing a dominant 7-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their opening match. Now, all eyes are on their upcoming blockbuster clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 28, 2025, at the iconic Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. As the team traveled from Kolkata to Chennai, RCB’s social media team shared a video capturing the players enjoying their downtime, but it was the comments made by Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma that set social media on fire.

During the journey, RCB captain Rajat Patidar was asked, “What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear about Chennai?”. Without hesitation, Patidar responded with “Win, only win”. His response was a direct reference to RCB’s famous victory over CSK on May 18, 2024, in the IPL 2024 league stage. That match was a historic moment for RCB fans, as their team completed a dramatic comeback to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs, while simultaneously eliminating MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings from the tournament.

Patidar’s response immediately sparked reactions, with RCB fans celebrating and CSK fans countering by reminding them of their five IPL titles compared to RCB’s trophyless record.

The banter didn’t stop there. RCB’s new wicketkeeper, Jitesh Sharma, was also asked about his thoughts on the upcoming match against Chennai Super Kings. Jitesh decided to take a humorous dig at CSK, responding with the now-famous meme phrase, “Dosa, Idly, Sambar, Chutney, Chutney”. His playful remark left RCB fans in splits, while CSK fans saw it as an unnecessary provocation ahead of the big match.

Adding fuel to the fire, Jitesh went on to declare that he aims to play a quickfire innings against CSK, jokingly saying, “50 runs in 10 balls, 50 runs in 9 balls”. He emphasized that his goal was to score quickly, finish the game early, and go home, which further intensified the online banter between RCB and CSK supporters.

Following the video, CSK fans took to social media, calling out RCB for boasting about a single victory against them while ignoring their dominance in the IPL over the years. They reminded RCB fans that their team has yet to win an IPL trophy, while CSK remains one of the most successful franchises in IPL history. With emotions running high, the RCB vs CSK clash at Chepauk is set to be a fiery encounter, with both teams eager to prove their superiority.

Did Jitesh Sharma Take a Dig at MS Dhoni?

For IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru brought in Jitesh Sharma as their wicketkeeper-batsman, and he has already sparked discussions with his recent statements. In a widely shared video, Jitesh named Adam Gilchrist as his cricketing idol, a choice that surprised some fans who expected him to mention MS Dhoni. When asked about Dhoni, Jitesh shared that he had always dreamed of batting alongside him, hoping to stand at the non-striker’s end while Dhoni was on strike, observing every moment closely as even if Dhoni got beaten by a bowler.

However, his comments about Dhoni’s role in India’s World Cup triumph raised eyebrows. Instead of solely praising Dhoni’s leadership, Jitesh highlighted that cricket is a team sport, suggesting that no single player can win a championship alone. While his response seemed neutral, some fans interpreted it as downplaying Dhoni’s contribution to India’s success. Adding fuel to the fire, Jitesh later referenced a trending meme that many associated with Chennai Super Kings.

This led to speculation that he was subtly mocking Dhoni and CSK, triggering a backlash from their supporters. Fans of the Chennai franchise took to social media, accusing Jitesh of disrespecting their team and legend. The debate quickly escalated, with some defending Jitesh’s remarks as harmless banter, while others believed he was deliberately taking a dig at Dhoni. Regardless, his comments have certainly intensified the rivalry between RCB and CSK ahead of their much-anticipated clash.
